Prof. Patricia Clark

Dr. Patricia Clark is a rheumatologist and clinical epidemiologist, currently serving as Secretary of the General Health Council of Mexico, a collegiate body that reports to the Presidency of the Republic and acts as the national health authority to identify and address priority public health issues of national impact.
She earned her Master’s and PhD in Science from McMaster University (Canada) and the National Autonomous University of Mexico (UNAM), and completed a postdoctoral fellowship at the University of San Diego (California). She is an Emeritus National Researcher of Mexico’s National System of Researchers (CONAHCyT) and a member of both the National Academy of Medicine of Mexico and the Mexican Academy of Sciences.
Dr. Clark has served on the Governing Board of UNAM (2017–2025), as well as on academic and scientific bodies such as CONACEM and the International Osteoporosis Foundation. She is a member of the Editorial Board of *Osteoporosis International* and co-editor of *Gaceta Médica de México*. Author of more than 165 scientific publications with over 20,000 international citations, she previously led the Clinical Epidemiology Unit at the Federico Gómez Children’s Hospital – UNAM Faculty of Medicine. In 2024, she was recognized as “Woman of the Year” by the National Council of Mexican Women.

La Dra. Patricia Clark es reumatóloga y epidemióloga clínica, actualmente Secretaría del Consejo de Salubridad General de México, un órgano colegiado que depende de la Presidencia de la República y actúa como autoridad sanitaria para identificar y abordar asuntos prioritarios de salud pública de impacto nacional. Realizó su maestría y doctorado en ciencias en la Universidad de McMaster (Canadá) y en la UNAM, y completó un postdoctorado en la Universidad de San Diego (California). Es Investigadora Nacional Emérita del Sistema Nacional de Investigadores (CONAHCyT) y miembro de la Academia Nacional de Medicina de México y de la Academia Mexicana de Ciencias. Ha integrado la Junta de Gobierno de la UNAM (2017–2025), así como órganos académicos y científicos como CONACEM y la Fundación Internacional de Osteoporosis. Forma parte del Comité Editorial de Osteoporosis International y es coeditora de la Gaceta Médica de México. Autora de más de 165 artículos científicos con más de 20,000 citaciones internacionales, fue previamente Jefa de la Unidad de Epidemiología Clínica del Hospital Infantil Federico Gómez – Facultad de Medicina UNAM. En 2024 fue reconocida como “Mujer del Año” por el Patronato Nacional de Mujeres Mexicanas.
