Prof. Julien Paccou

Professor Julien Paccou is Professor of Rheumatology at Lille University Hospital, France. He received his MD in 2008 and completed his PhD in 2013 at INSERM U1088, Amiens University Hospital, focusing on vascular calcification in rheumatoid arthritis. In 2014, he undertook a postdoctoral fellowship at the MRC Lifecourse Epidemiology Unit, University of Southampton, under the supervision of Professor Cyrus Cooper.
His research interests include osteoporosis, bone marrow adiposity, obesity, bariatric surgery, and weight loss. He serves as Secretary of the Bone Marrow Adiposity Society (BMAS) Executive Board and is an active member of several international committees, including the International Osteoporosis Foundation, and ESCEO. He is also a board member of the French osteoporosis society (GRIO).
His work has explored vascular calcification in rheumatoid arthritis and the role of bone marrow fat in skeletal health. His current research includes body composition changes in psoriatic arthritis and bone marrow fat in postmenopausal women.
